Waxing is a method of semi-permanent hair removal which removes the hair from the root. New hair will not grow back in the previously waxed area for two to eight weeks, although some people will start to see re-growth in only a week. We wax almost any area of the body that can be waxed, including eyebrows, face, bikini area, legs, arms, back, abdomen, intimate and feet.

We pride ourselves on making waxing a more comfortable experience and tailor make each appointment to your needs, so no more being rushed out of the salon. We make sure you are waxed to perfection. As a client of ProdigiousHands you are treated as an individual and are waxed to your specification.

Aftercare

Keep the waxed area clean, and avoid heat and friction during the next 24 hours.

This means:

  • No hot baths or showers (warm water only).

  • No saunas, hot tubs or steam treatments.

  • No tanning (sunbathing, sunbeds or fake tans).

  • No sport, gym work or other exercise.

  • Avoid scratching or touching the treated area with unwashed hands.

  • Avoid swimming in chlorinated pools

  • Do not apply deodorants, body sprays, powders, lotions or other products to the area,

  • Use an exfoliating glove after two days, then two or three times a week after and keep your skin moisturised.

Please note:

  • Some slight soreness, small bumps and redness are common and perfectly normal temporary reactions, particularly if this is your first wax.

  • These symptoms should subside over 24-48 hours.

  • If you experience persistent redness or irritation, or if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Cautions:

We do not recommend waxing for persons suffering from diabetes or who have varicose veins or poor circulation as they are more susceptible to infection. Users of Retin-A, Renova, Differin or Isotretinoin are advised not to have waxing performed; these medications tend to weaken the skin and tearing of the skin may occur when the wax is removed.

Waxing should not be done on areas of skin affected by warts, pimples, moles or rashes or on skin that is irritated, chapped or suffering from sunburn.

Important Information:

We are unable to wax you if you are under 16

If you are suffering from:

  • Cystitis

  • Contagious Skin Conditions

  •  Allergies to Sticking Plasters

  • Injury to the groin area

We need to be told if you have any blood disorders or if you are diabetic as this may affect your treatment.

If you are using Roaccutane, we are unable to wax you until at least 6 months after your medication has finished.

Everybody's pain threshold is different, you may find it slightly uncomfortable

but the pain subsides very quickly. The therapist is highly qualified and will do everything they can to make the experience more comfortable for you, remember we are here to wax you and as an individual your treatment will be tailored for you.

We do not rush the treatment and we make sure you are happy with the finished result before you leave and it doesn't stop there we are always available to offer advice by telephone or email.

Please be aware that some people can suffer a contra-action after waxing this is a reaction to the treatment afterwards

Folliculitis: Inflammation of the hair follicle, recognised by a rash and pustules/ pimples which form around the follicles. Pustules normally appear after few days this is a sign that the pores have become infected. Typically caused by a blocked follicle, friction or irritation. Folliculitis

Ingrowing Hairs: A condition where the hair becomes trapped under the surface of the skin or grows sideways into the wall of its follicle. The embedded hair causes a localised inflammatory response and can sometimes be accompanied by infection, resulting in a pimple.

Hives: Is a common reaction that produces raised white skin welts surrounded by an inflamed red area, similar in appearance to a nettle rash. The welts are often red and itchy. This is the result of the immune response to the physiological trauma of the hair been removed and normally disappears within 24 hours.
