TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) takes a holistic approach to beauty. Chinese philosophy believes that a person is healthy when all their organs are functioning properly, then the Qi and blood are sufficient. This will be reflected in a person’s complexion which will radiate power and vitality, with a bright and sunny spirit (Shen) and their personality will also be positive and effective.

Cosmetic Acupuncture or Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture as it is sometimes known is the latest anti-aging treatment of choice for celebrities. It is a rejuvenation and revitalization process designed to help the whole body look and feel younger. Breaking the skin using fine needles cause a chemical reaction by using acupuncture points positioned on the meridian channels of the face and body to restore a harmonious balance and increase the natural production of collagen.

Cosmetic Acupuncture is a great choice for aging baby boomers that want to give their skin a little boost, but don’t want to inject Botox, fillers, or go the surgical route. It also works well for younger women, and men, who want their skin to look its best without chemical peeling.

Why choose Cosmetic Acupuncture?

Unlike surgery or chemical peeling that may have an extended recovery period with swelling and discoloration, there is no trauma from Cosmetic Acupuncture.

What Are The Benefits Of Cosmetic Acupuncture?

Cosmetic Acupuncture may erase as many as 5 to 15 years from the face, with results apparent after a course of treatments.

Cosmetic Acupuncture might be helpful to:

  • Minimise or eliminate fine lines and improve the look of deep wrinkles

  • Increase blood, energy and lymph circulation

  • Lift sagging skin, puffy or droopy eyelids

  • Even facial colour and tone

  • Reduce a double chin and sagging jowls

  • Help to reduce inflammation on a face with Rosacea and Cystic Acne

  • Improves hormonal balance which reduces acne

  • Improve muscle tone

  • Promote good sleep

What happens during the treatment?

The initial treatment takes 90 minutes. A full consultation and skin analysis is performed and we will discuss what your concerns are and what are you hoping to achieve from the treatment.

Once the treatment has been determined acupuncture needles will be applied which may include other parts of the body like the hands, tummy, feet and legs, so it is best to wear loose fitting clothes. You will be covered by a blanket to keep you warm and comfortable.

Following the removal of the needles, massage to the affected areas will be performed, often with a herbal cream suitable for your constitution. This massage can be done with either the fingers/hands or with a gua sha.

Herbal masks can be applied if necessary but these are an optional extra and aren’t required with all treatments.

Herbal treatments may be necessary to compliment and improve the results. If so this may in tablet or powder form to be taken orally, or using a prepared cream to apply directly to the skin.
